The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs began their final roadtrip in style despite playoff elimination with a 4-3 victory over the Long Island Ducks. The Blue Crabs were eliminated from a playoff position after a win by the Sugar Land Skeeters.

Daryl Thompson (7-6) earned the win allowing two runs over seven innings. Bob Zimmerman (3-3) was on the losing end giving up three earned runs in seven innings as well.

Southern Maryland jumped out to a lead thanks to three runs in the 1st inning. Jake Opitz propelled the Blue Crabs in front with a three-run home run, his 16th of the season, to make it 3-0 Southern Maryland.

Southern Maryland begin their final series of the regular season on the road tomorrow against the Long Island Ducks at 7:05 PM.
