BRIDGEPORT, CT.—The Blue Crabs struggled once again offensively as the Bluefish scored in bunches to pick up the 7-3 victory and split the four game series.
The Blue Crabs jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third on a Bryant Nelson RBI single.ย Bridgeport got on the board in the bottom half of the inning off RHP Jon Leicester in the bottom of the third.ย After the Bluefish scored a run on a sacrifice, Luis An Rodriguez stepped to the plate and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to left.ย A couple of batters later, Dan Johnson ripped a two run double to right to bring the score to 4-1.
In the bottom of the sixth, Jose Cuevas came to the plate and drove a three run homerun over the wall to bring the score to itsโ final of 7-3.ย RHP Blake Beavan picked up the win for Bridgeport on the hill, going five innings allowing one earned run.
Meanwhile for the Blue Crabs, Steve Lombardozzi went 2-5 and has now hit safely in 30 of 35 games played this season.ย Angel Flores and DโArby Myers each contributed with RBIs as well.ย Southern Maryland will now return home for a quick three game set against the Somerset Patriots beginning tomorrow night.ย The first pitch is set for 7:05 P.M.
