Prince Frederick, MD โ€“ Calvert County Public Schools (CCPS) Superintendent Dr. Daniel Curry recommended two new administrative appointments during the Board of Educationโ€™s (BOE) Thursday, July 12 meeting. Curry stated that from now on, the title โ€œvice principalโ€ will be replaced by โ€œassistant principal.โ€ The superintendent then recommended Dr. Bridget McGinnis for appointment as assistant principal at Mount Harmony Elementary School and Trish Porter as assistant principal at Mill Creek Middle School. Both appointments were approved unanimously. Curry said McGinnis is a U.S. Army veteran who attained the rank of sergeant serving with the Military Police. He joked that the experience can be used while walking the halls of Mount Harmony. McGinnis spent several years teaching and as an administrator in Virginia. Porter has served as a dean at three different schools since moving to Calvert County.

As part of his superintendentโ€™s report, Curry also announced that so far this summer CCPS has hired 50 new professional staff members. โ€œThat is good news,โ€ he said.
Later during the meeting Curry recommended 3 percent pay increases for Assistant Superintendent Diane Workman and Executive Director Anthony Navarro. Both Workman and Navarro will receive annual salaries of $165,830. Curry said the pay boosts were โ€œreflective of the two-step increase that is coming to most everyone else in the system including administrators.โ€ The raises would take effect for CCPSโ€™s new fiscal year.

โ€œThe amount of work you put in is astounding,โ€ BOE Member Dawn Balinski told Workman and Navarro. The BOE unanimously approved the recommendation.
