On September 6 at 5:13 a.m., after observing a vehicle leave the parking lot of the 7-11 Convenience store at Church Street and Md. Route 4 in Prince Frederick at a high rate of speed, Dep. Moises Velasquez attempted a traffic stop while contacting the Calvert Control Center to determine if the 7-11 had been robbed.
Employees of the 7-11 advised that a man had just stolen a carton of Newport cigarettes and fled the store without paying. Dep. Velasquez stopped the suspect vehicle on Md. Route 231 and Skipjack Road and the driver matched the description given by employees.
Keith Daniel Sams, 26 of Waldorf, was arrested and charged with theft under $100.
