At 11:00 am, on Thursday, January 18, TFC Linger was patrolling Rt. 235 in Lexington Park, when he stopped a 1991 Acura Legend for speeding.
Contact was made with the driver, a black male, 18 of California and a warning was issued for the speed violation.
Contact was made with the passenger, Paul Terrell Stewart, 32 of Mechanicsville, who exited the vehicle during a brief conversation. A pat down search for officer safety revealed a small bag of marijuana in his pants pocket. Mr. Stewart was placed under arrest for the possession of marijuana.
A search incident to arrest revealed Mr. Stewart had approximately 440 grams of marijuana in a book bag. Mr. Stewart was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond review.
