On Feb. 7, around 4 p.m., Bay District firefighters got a call for report of a fire with person(s) trapped in the 2100 block of Pegg Road in Lexington Park at the Lexington Park Senior Apartments.

Rescue crews arrived on the scene to find smoke pouring from apartment 129. Firefighters gained entry to find one person laying unconscious on the floor. It is unknown if smoke resulted in the woman passing out or if she was experiencing medical issues.

Fire officials on the scene claim a flower pot was burning on the stove resulting in widespread smoke in the apartment.

The woman found unconscious was transported by Lexington Park Rescue Squad to St. Mary’s Hospital. No word on the woman’s condition at this time.

Fire officials continue to investigate.
