
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – On January 23, 2024, the Calvert County Board of County Commissioners held a regular meeting at the Circuit Courthouse in Prince Frederick. During this meeting, they covered a variety of topics, including the review of the Calvert County Board of Education’s Fiscal Year 2025 6-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).
The review was presented by the Calvert County Board of Education and the Calvert County Department of Finance & Budget. They covered several projects within the school district that will take place within the next six fiscal years. These projects include construction, replacement, maintenance, as well as feasibility studies.
Schools, alongside their projects, listed within the six-year CIP include Northern Middle School and its construction, Calvert Elementary School and its renovation, Patuxent High School and its field house construction, as well as several other projects.
Many of the other projects listed within the CIP and projects discussed during the meeting include the replacement of HVAC equipment, miscellaneous playground replacement, roof replacement, as well as upkeep of athletic facilities.
The funding support for these projects during the next six fiscal years has been broken down and split between the state of Maryland and Calvert County. Within the six-year support breakdown presented during the meeting, it is shown that 49.1% of the funding, totaling $68,653,556, will be supported by Calvert County. The remaining 50.9% of the funding totaling $71,086,155 will be supported by the state of Maryland.
