Calvert County Approves Administrative Update For State Grant Programs

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) unanimously approved an administrative update during its Aug. 4 meeting, designating the officials authorized to manage state grant documents for programs serving children and families.

The action updates the county’s authorized representatives for the Children’s Cabinet Interagency Fund, a grant program administered through the Governor’s Office for Children that supports local management boards across Maryland. The program helps coordinate funding for initiatives that serve children, youth and families, with local jurisdictions required to designate officials who are authorized to execute grant-related documents.

County staff told commissioners the designation needed to be updated to reflect the county’s current leadership. Under the approval, the sitting president of the BOCC, Todd Ireland, will serve as the county’s authorized official, while the county administrator will serve as the alternate authorized official and signatory. The designation authorizes them to execute grant agreements, amendments, reports and other required documents associated with Children’s Cabinet Interagency Fund awards for fiscal years 2026 and 2027.

According to staff, the update is administrative in nature and carries no fiscal impact. Approval allows the county to submit an updated designation letter to the Governor’s Office for Children and remain in compliance with state grant requirements. The designation will remain in effect until it is modified or rescinded by the county.
