PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — In keeping with their efforts to fill vacancies in the county, the Board of County Commissioners confirmed seven new appointments on June 10. The new appointments are as follows:
Matthew Keen and Edmund Shamleffer, reappointed to the Building Board of Calvert County.
Mike Mehls to the Commission for Veterans and Military Families, and Jacqueline Turnboo as the military spouse/caregiver representative.
Dr. Daniel Curry, reappointed to the Cove Point Light Station Commission.
Sarah Shields and Cristin Fuller to the Environmental Commission.
Thomas Phelps to the Sheriff’s Office Pension Plan Board of Trustees.
Emily Shrives, the constituent service specialist, added that there is still one additional civilian spot available on the pension board of trustees. Her team has been working over the last few months to fill the vacancies left by resignations, and with term limits removed, Calvert residents are no longer forced to resign their commission or board spots according to how long they’ve served.
Board President Earl F. Hance again encouraged interested people to go to the county website to check out the vacancies on the county’s numerous boards and commissions.
“If you have a talent and want to give us some of your time, we’d greatly appreciate your service,” he said.
