(EMS) Lieutenant Kathryn Dent.

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – Meet the Department of Public Safety’s Career Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Lieutenant Kathryn Dent.

Kathryn joined Calvert EMS in 2020 as an acting Lieutenant before being promoted to a full-time Lieutenant. Kathryn supervises six emergency units at five stations during her shift. Along with her supervising responsibilities, she assists with equipment and narcotic restock, scheduling and training career EMS staff.

Kathryn began her career in emergency services at the age of 14, when she joined the Charles County Fire Department as a volunteer. An interest in medicine led her to obtain an associate’s degree in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and a paramedic license. She is currently working on her bachelor’s degree in public safety with a minor in emergency management.

Kathryn said, “As one of the first career EMS responders brought on in the county, my job is important because it is a part of a how we blend volunteers and career EMS responders to become one strong county resource.”

Along with her passion for EMS, Kathryn also cares deeply about her family and community. She strongly believes that everyone’s quality of life would be better if people cared for and looked out for their neighbors. Her hobbies include hiking, cooking and working out.

Please join us in thanking Kathryn for her service!
