PRINCE FREDERICK, Md.— The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025, honored three Huntingtown High School teams for capturing state titles during the 2025 athletic season.
During a presentation at the county government building, commissioners recognized the Hurricanes’ varsity baseball, softball and wrestling squads for their championship runs.

The baseball team capped its season with a 22-3 record, claiming the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) Class 2A title along with the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference (SMAC) and 2A South Regional championships.

The softball team matched that 22-3 mark and brought home its own MPSSAA Class 2A crown.

The varsity wrestling program secured the MPSSAA 2A state championship, its eighth 2A South Regional Dual title and fourth SMAC championship, finishing 29-5 overall.
Commissioners praised the student-athletes for their discipline, teamwork and representation of the county on the state stage.
