PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – During the week of August 16– August 22, deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,420 calls for service throughout the community.

Theft: 21-46755
On August 19, 2021, Deputy Strong responded to the 3700 block of Fish Hook Drive in Broomes Island, MD for the report of a theft. The complainant advised her 18’ aluminum Grumman Canoe was stolen from the pier in her backyard. The estimated value of stolen property is $600.00.

Theft: 21-46057
On August 16, 2021, Deputy Lee responded to the 8200 block of Racoon Lane for the report of a theft. The complainant advised on Aug. 13, 2021 her bankcard was lost in the parking lot near the 230 block of Town Square Drive in Lusby, MD. Unknown suspects made an unauthorized charge at the Shell gas station before the bank card was cancelled. The total value of stolen property was $22.24.

Theft: 21-46911
On August 20, 2021, Cpl. Norton responded to 4400 block of North Shore Drive in Prince Frederick, MD for a report of a theft. The complainant advised she had water taken from the front porch of her residence. A water delivery consisting of 2 Nestle five gallon jugs and a Nestle 24 pack of bottled water had been stolen sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 12:33 p.m. The total value of stolen property is $42.00.

Theft: 21-47173
On August 21, 2021, Deputy Savick responded to the Walmart located at 10600 Town Center Blvd. in Dunkirk, MD for report of a theft. The complainant advised a male subject stole multiple items to include 1 pack of paint brushes, 1 USB flash drive and 1 pair of Bluetooth earbuds and failed to pay for them as he walked through the self-checkout area. The subject was screaming profanities as he was confronted by management at the exit door. The loss prevention manager was able to recover the stolen items as the subject fled the scene. The subject was last seen running towards the Giant food store.

Theft: 21-46731
On August 19, 2021, Deputy Freeland responded to the 14400 block of Dowell Road in Solomons, MD for a reported theft from a boat. The complainant advised sometime between July 31 and Aug. 19, unknown suspect(s) boarded his boat and stole 3 trolling fishing rods and 3 crab pots and damaged a live pot tied to the pier. The total value of stolen property is $1500.00 and $75.00 in damaged property.

Theft: 21-46946
On August 20, 2021, Deputy Ostazeski responded to the 8500 block of Bayside Road in Chesapeake Beach, MD for a report of a theft. The complainant advised her silver fifth generation 32 GB iPad in a red case was stolen on Aug. 5, 2021. The total value of stolen property is unknown at this time.

Damaged Property: 21-47144
On August 21, 2021, Deputy Shoemaker responded to 6000 block of Alanna Way in St. Leonard, MD for a reported destruction of property. The complainant advised sometime between 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) smashed the driver’s side window out in a vehicle parked at the residence. The total value of damaged property is $500.00.


ARRESTS:

Joshua Terrell Trippett, 25

On August 18, 2021, Deputy Savick responded to the area of Southern MD Blvd. and Skinners Turn Road in Owings, MD to assist Trooper Kaitz with a traffic stop. The vehicle was confirmed to have fraudulent tags and the operator of the vehicle was suspended. During the stop, Deputy Savick observed the brake lights flash and heard the engine revving up and witnessed the truck drive off. Trooper Kaitz and Deputy Savick pursued the vehicle at accelerating speeds and noticed the driver not stopping while driving recklessly in an attempt to elude police units. As the vehicle approached a sharp bend in the roadway along NB Rt. 4 just prior to Dunleigh Drive, the vehicle lost control and spun out striking a road sign where it came to a rest in the median. The driver, identified as Joshua Terrell Trippett, 25 of Bowie, MD was placed into custody and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Driving an Unregistered Vehicle on a Highway, Driving on a Suspended License, Knowingly Driving an Uninsured Vehicle, Negligent Driving, Failure of Individual Driving on Highway to Display License to Uninformed Police on Demand and other traffic related charges.


James Eugene Stratchko, 34

On August 21, 2021, members of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 3800 block of Bedford Drive in North Beach, MD for report of a disturbance. Deputies arrived on scene and observed a male identified as James Eugene Stratchko, 34 of North Beach, MD being loud and boisterous while shouting profanities. Stratchko was advised several times to stop using the profane language while causing a disturbance which drew the attention of neighbors in the townhome community.  Stratchko refused to comply with orders given to him by law enforcement and continued to conduct himself in that manor. Stratchko was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Failure to Obey a Reasonable/Lawful Order of Law Enforcement Officer.
