Calvert Library is Going to the Dogs!

Come join us at Calvert Library, Prince Frederick as children have the opportunity to “Paws to Read.” Children are paired with a therapy dog and their owner, and read aloud to the pet. The dog will sit or lie closely and quietly as the child reads aloud to them, creating a calm, encouraging environment. Studies have shown that children who read to animals experience a gain in their reading ability and an improvement in their attitudes toward reading. It’s the ultimate in nonjudgmental support, with the added bonus of nice, soft fur. The program runs from 2 – 4 pm, Saturday, January 19th.

Suggested for beginning or reluctant readers.  Registration is required.
