A 49-year-old Dunkirk man is Maryland’s newest lottery millionaire. According to the Maryland State Lottery web site, the lucky resident is identified as Martin Stepney, who won playing the “Lucky 7s Game Book.”
Lottery officials reported Stepney purchased the game winner April 11 at Town Center Amoco in Dunkirk. Stepney told lottery officials after purchasing the game he sat down to play it in the store.
“When I saw zero after zero after zero in the prize section I jumped up and ran to the center to tell the cashier—I know the folks who run the place,” Stepney told lottery officials. “Everybody in the store was celebrating with lots of hugs.”
As for Stepney plans to do with the windfall, he stated “in all the excitement I haven’t had time to think about what I might do.”
