SAINT INIGOES, Md. — A St. Mary’s County man was arrested after allegedly pointing a loaded handgun at another individual during a dispute, according to court documents.
Jordan Charles Danford, 26, of California, Maryland, is charged with first-degree assault and multiple firearm-related offenses following the April 14, 2026 incident.
Deputies responded around 1:14 a.m. to a residence on Chisleytown Road in Saint Inigoes for a reported assault. Upon arrival, they made contact with Danford, who was standing near a vehicle.
Investigators were advised that Danford was in possession of a firearm. Deputies gave verbal commands, and he was detained without incident. During the investigation, authorities recovered a fully loaded Glock 19 handgun from beneath a nearby vehicle.
Court documents indicate the firearm did not have a serial number.
Witnesses reported that during an argument inside the residence, Danford retrieved the handgun and pointed it at another individual while making threats. Investigators also reported hearing statements indicating the firearm had been cocked during the incident.
Danford was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center following the incident.
He faces charges including first-degree assault, use of a firearm in a violent crime, possession of a firearm without a serial number, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, and use of a high-capacity magazine.
Court records show Danford was later released on his own recognizance.
A preliminary hearing is set for May 12, 2026, in St. Mary’s District Court.
Under Maryland law, first-degree assault carries a maximum penalty of up to 25 years in prison, while use of a firearm in a violent crime can carry a sentence of up to 20 years.
