PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Calvert County has opted to continue its longtime relationship with its current financial advisor, Davenport & Company LLC, for an additional year.

Davenport & Company LLC is a registered municipal advisor and has previously provided municipal advisory and public finance advisory services to the county. The company helps the Department of Finance & Budget with municipal advisory and public finance advisory services, including:

  • assistance with debt planning
  • bond issuance
  • rating agency preparation
  • refunding analysis
  • financial modeling
  • financing schedules
  • pricing oversight and related advisory services

“Continuing the relationship promotes continuity of service, supports upcoming debt issuance and capital financing needs, preserves institutional knowledge and provides price stability under the agreed-upon fee schedule,” Chief Financial Officer Malena Brookshire wrote in a memo to the Board of County Commissioners.

Davenport’s services range from $250 to $300 an hour, depending on the advisor’s title and experience.

Most recently, Davenport presented its financial report with a focus on debt management and maintaining the county’s AAA bond rating. The company works closely with Brookshire and her department to advise the county on its finances.

The BOCC approved the contract renewal in a 5-0 vote at the June 16 meeting.
