PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – On Thursday, May 16, 2024, the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office participated in a special Blessing of the Fleet ceremony at the St. John Vianney Family Life Center in Prince Frederick.
Led by Sheriff’s Office chaplains Monsignor Karl Chimiak and Pastor Dave Mohler, along with members of both the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police, the event took place during National Police Week, an annual observance honoring the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers across the United States.

Its purpose was to offer spiritual support and blessings to the officers and their families. During the ceremony, the chaplains walked among the parked cruisers and motorcycles, sprinkling holy water on the vehicles as a symbol of protection and safety for the officers in their duties.

“The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office is grateful for the prayers and blessings offered, as they continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of the community,” said the Sheriff’s Office.
The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office thanked Monsignor Chimiak, Pastor Mohler, and the St. John Vianney Family Life Center for hosting the event.
