ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Votes are in for Anne Arundel County, and residents made their voices heard on who they want to see on the ballot in November.
Incumbent Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth of District 3 won the Democratic primary against four other candidates with 75.41% of the vote and will face Republican Berney Flowers in the general election. Flowers defeated three Republican candidates to win the nomination.
Adrian Boafo came out victorious in the crowded District 5 Democratic primary and will face Republican Chris Chafee in November. District 5 encompasses parts of lower Anne Arundel County.
State Senate races were unopposed in all districts in both parties, with the exception of District 32, where Mark S. Chang beat Stephen A. Tillett with 64.31% of the vote.
Alison M. Pickard won the Democratic primary for county executive and will face Republican Dave Crawford to fill the role currently held by Steuart Pittman, who is ineligible to run because of term limits. The Anne Arundel county executive cannot serve for more than two consecutive four-year terms.
Former Mayor Gavin Buckley also won the Democratic primary for the District 6 City Council seat despite questions about his popularity and skepticism about his decision to run after he served as governor from 2017 to 2025, overseeing the city during the COVID-19 pandemic.
