PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office welcomed four new correctional deputies at the Oct. 7 Board of County Commissioners BOCC meeting. The deputies all completed the Southern Maryland Criminal Justice Academy’s 11-week Corrections Entrance Level Training Academy and will work at the Calvert Detention Center.
The new correctional deputies are:
- Hannah Pruitt, graduated second in her academy class with academic honors.
- Damone Plummer, also graduated second and is a Patuxent High grad who moved to the county in 2021.
- Nicholas Saunders, a former fire and rescue volunteer who was “born and raised” in Prince Frederick.
- Jermaine Hawkins, who is also a culinary school graduate.
All four of the new deputies are local to Calvert County and graduated from Calvert’s public school system. One of the new deputies expressed gratitude for the opportunities the county and sheriff’s department has provided.
Sheriff Ricky Cox welcomed the deputies to the department and acknowledged their work in the academy, saying they put a lot of “hard work, blood and tears into that.”
“They serve our community proudly,” Cox said.
Congratulations and welcome to the new deputies.
