LUSBY, Md. — A Lusby man is facing multiple charges after being served a summons in late April following an investigation into a loose dog that was not properly vaccinated or licensed in Calvert County.
Albert Michael Shott, 43, of Lusby, was charged after Animal Control responded to incidents on March 17, 2026, involving a dog repeatedly running at large in the area of Rattlesnake Drive and Cowpoke Circle.
Animal Control officers were first dispatched for reports of a loose black and white pitbull-type dog that was seen roaming through the neighborhood and entering nearby yards. The dog was not immediately located.
Authorities responded again for a similar complaint and later tracked the dog to a residence on Cowpoke Circle, where it entered the backyard of the home.
During contact with Shott, he confirmed ownership of the dog, identified as “Nina.” Officials advised him the dog had been reported running loose multiple times and instructed him to maintain proper control.
According to the report, Shott was initially uncooperative and provided inconsistent information regarding the dog’s identity and ownership. Animal Control later confirmed through records that he was the registered owner.
Further investigation determined the dog did not have a current rabies vaccination on file and was not properly licensed. A compliance notice was issued, but authorities reported that proof of vaccination and licensing was not provided by the required deadline.
Court records show a summons was issued on April 17, 2026, and served on April 23, 2026.
Shott is charged with interfering with enforcement, failure to provide rabies vaccination, and animal license violations.
A hearing is set for June 8, 2026, in Calvert District Court.
