Prince Frederick, MD – A Calvert County man with two previous drug distribution convictions was handed a third this month after a Circuit Court jury trial. The defendant, Cephas Travis Hutchins, 38 of Huntingtown, was found guilty Nov. 15 for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of cocaine. The incident for which Hutchins was convicted is alleged to have occurred April 14. According to a press release from the Calvert County State’s Attorney’s Office, the incident occurred after a trial.
A pre-sentence investigation has been ordered, according to court records. Sentencing has been tentatively set for Jan. 26. The Calvert State’s Attorney’s Office reported that Hutchins also faces sentencing for violating his probation in one of the earlier cases. The state did not prosecute Hutchins on a third indictment count for operating a vehicle while not restrained.
Hutchins was represented during the two-day trial by Ralph Larry Warren Sr. Assistant State’s Attorney Lisa M. Ridge prosecuted the case.
