The sun reappeared in time Saturday morning, April 20 to help attract an energized crowd to Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center. The event was the 5th annual Calvert County Green Expo.

ย

Calvert County Department of Public Works Deputy Director of Enterprise Operations Mark Willis, a member of the countyโ€™s 13-member Citizens Green Team, called the exposition โ€œa family friendly event.โ€

ย

In fact, in addition to several businesses and local government entities, 10 county schools participated, hosting exhibits.

ย

Attendees were able to talk to the experts about the latest in renewable and ecofriendly technologiesโ€”including solar, wind and geothermal technologies plus hybrid motor vehicles.

In addition to the youth and commercial vendors, the University of Maryland Master Gardeners conducted four presentations on gardening native plants, growing tomatoes and composting.

A family of goats from Prosperity Acres of Sunderland drew the attention of exposition attendees

The Calvert County Commissioners provided the Green Team a $2,000 donation on behalf of the county citizens for the expo. Five tiers of sponsorsโ€”totaling 16 in allโ€”also contributed to make the event possible.

ย

โ€œWe want to continue to grow,โ€ Willis told the county commissioners earlier in the week.
