UPDATE – 9: 40 a.m. – Authorities have cleared the fist suspicious package.
The second suspicious package on the North Side Plaza of the Jefferson building remains under investigation.
Officials state that “the north screening facility of the Capitol Visitor Center is closed. The south screening facility of the Capitol Visitor Center is open. There is no impact to the U.S. Capitol Building.”
Washington, DC – March 29, 9:10 a.m. – The U.S. Capitol is on lock down after a suspicious unattended package was located in the visitor’s center. A second unattended package was found on the North side plaza of the Jefferson building.
Surrounding streets are closed. Units are investigating.
