vehicle accident in maryland

CALVERT COUNTY, Md. — Emergency crews are responding to a single-vehicle crash near Grovers Turn Road after a car reportedly left the roadway and disappeared into a heavily wooded area Tuesday afternoon. The crash was later determined to be minor.

The crash was reported at approximately 5:14 p.m. Sept. 1. According to initial dispatch information, a witness reported seeing a car drive off the road and into a ditch just before Grovers Turn Road.

The witness told dispatchers they could no longer see the vehicle after it entered the wooded, brush-covered area. The vehicle was described as possibly being a small gray passenger car.

Initial reports did not confirm whether anyone was injured, trapped or ejected from the vehicle. No vehicle fire was reported, and it was also unclear whether any fuel or other fluids were leaking.

Fire and EMS personnel were dispatched to locate the vehicle and evaluate any occupants.

Motorists should use caution in the area while emergency crews operate.
