Arrest in southern Maryland

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A 23-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon in Annapolis after being lured into a scam involving a card game.

On April 29, 2025, at approximately 12:30 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Jennifer Road for a reported armed robbery. The victim told police he had been approached by several unknown individuals during his lunch break and was invited to participate in a card game with the promise of winning money.

Police said the victim accompanied one of the suspects to a nearby Bank of America, where he withdrew cash before joining the game. After realizing he was being scammed, the victim tried to leave with his money, but one suspect displayed a black semi-automatic handgun and forcibly took the cash.

The suspect fled the scene in a black four-door sedan, police said.

The armed suspect is described as a heavyset male between 27 and 33 years old with dreadlocks, wearing a white shirt. Authorities believe he was accompanied by four to six other young males.

No injuries were reported. The incident remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
