โOur regional airports play a key role in maintaining Marylandโs robust economy,โ Senator Mikulski said. โExtending the runway at St. Maryโs Regional Airport is critical to maintaining safety and efficiency at this busy airport while keeping Marylanders on the go.โ
The grant will allow the airport, which is operated by the St. Mary’s County Board of County Commissioners, to buy more land to extend the approach for runway 29. St. Maryโs County Regional Airport is located near the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.ย The Airport also has a helipad, which is used by the Maryland State Police.ย ย
