CCPS to Host Special Education Expo at North Point High School April 18

WALDORF, Md. — Families interested in attending the upcoming Charles County Public Schools Special Education Expo must register by Tuesday, March 31, 2026, ahead of the event scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at North Point High School.

The event, titled “Building Possibilities: Resources, Tools, & Strategies for Every Stage,” is hosted by the Charles County Public Schools Department of Special Education and is designed to support families of students with disabilities at every stage of development.

According to Charles County Public Schools, the expo will feature informational sessions led by CCPS staff and community partners covering topics such as learning supports, behavior strategies, executive functioning and planning for life after high school. Families will also have the opportunity to connect with local organizations during a community resource fair focused on services available throughout the region.

Attendees may follow a single learning pathway or mix sessions based on their interests.

Session pathways include:

  • Building Blocks of Special Education & Learning, which explains how special education services, district initiatives and community supports work together to serve students within Charles County Public Schools.
  • Laying the Foundation – Behavior & Executive Functioning, offering strategies to support emotional regulation, routines and independence at home and school.
  • Strengthening the Structure – Supporting Learning at Home, focusing on ways families can reinforce literacy, math and communication skills beyond the classroom.
  • Raising the Framework – Secondary Transition & Adult Life, which addresses guardianship options, financial planning and preparing students for independence after high school.
  • Direct Service Application Support, providing guided assistance for families completing applications for services including Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income and the Autism Waiver.

A complimentary continental breakfast will be provided for attendees, and lunch will be available for purchase from local food trucks during the community resource fair.

Organizers ask that each attendee age 12 or older register individually to help plan for attendance.

Additional information and registration details are available through the Charles County Public Schools Special Education Family Engagement page.
