Maryland Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (MdVLA), PNC Bank and Maryland Citizens for the Arts (MCA) are teaming up with the Charles County Arts Alliance to bring their successful workshop on legal and financial literacy for artists to Southern Maryland for the first time, the organizations announced August 21.ย  “Mind Your Business,” a workshop aimed at giving artists some of the essential legal and business information they need to run a successful arts business, will be held at the new Waldorf West Library, located at 10405 O’Donnell Place, Waldorf, MDย  20603.ย  The workshop will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2013, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, and is FREE.ย  (Reservations required, light refreshments will be served.)ย  Click here to view the flyer.

The workshop will feature expert speakers addressing a number of issues that face artists trying to make a living from their work, including copyright protection; insuring their work, workspace and tools; and budgeting and cash flow when income is irregular.
