Charles County, MD — Charles County flags will be lowered to half-staff from sunrise on Sept. 11 until sunset on Sept. 12 as a mark of respect for the memory Potomac Heights firefighter Charles “Mike” Wills, who served 39 yrs with the Potomac Heights Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
According to an announcement on the department’s web page, Willis passed away unexpectedly at his home on September 5.
He first joined the department in 1980 at the age of 15 and had 39 years of active service. Mike also served with the La Plata Volunteer Fire Department and the Nanjemoy Volunteer Fire Department.
He was the current Director of Fire and Emergency Services at Maryland International Raceway.
His viewing will be held Wednesday, September 11 at Potomac Heights Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad in Indian Head from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. with Firemen’s Prayers at 7 p.m.
The funeral will be held Thursday at the Fire Station.
