Charles County Youth Orchestra To Perform Free Spring Concert At Thomas Stone High School

WALDORF, Md. — Young musicians from across Charles County will take center stage Sunday, May 17, as the Charles County Youth Orchestra and its student ensembles return to Thomas Stone High School for their annual Spring Concert — an afternoon showcasing everything from beginner strings to full symphonic performance.

The performance begins at 3 p.m. at Thomas Stone High School, located at 3785 Leonardtown Road in Waldorf. Admission is free and open to the public, with a reception immediately following the concert.

The annual Spring Concert will feature more than 100 young musicians from across Charles County performing with the Charles County Youth Orchestra, Encore Band, Encore Strings and Prelude Strings. The ensembles range from beginner to advanced levels, highlighting students at every stage of their musical development.

For many local families, the Spring Concert has become a seasonal tradition and a celebration of months of rehearsal, growth and dedication from young performers throughout the community.

Fresh Off A Performance At Port Tobacco

The ensembles recently performed earlier this month during Market Day at the historic Port Tobacco Courthouse, marking the organization’s first outdoor spring performance of the season. The May 2 concert drew community members and served as preparation for the larger spring showcase.

The Charles County Youth Orchestra program has become one of the county’s longstanding youth arts organizations, offering students opportunities to progress from introductory music instruction to advanced orchestral performance. The program receives support from the Charles County Charitable Trust, Charles County Arts Alliance and Maryland State Arts Council.
