WALDORF, Md. – The Charles County Economic Development Department will host its annual Fall Meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at the Greater Waldorf Jaycees Community Center (3090 Crain Highway, Waldorf) from 8 a.m. to noon. This year’s theme is “Charles County Closing the Workforce Gap.”

Charles County is fortunate to be located in a highly competitive and dynamic region that continues to grow, and with this comes challenges and opportunities. The Fall Meeting is an opportunity to learn how workforce plays a vital role in building a community and the meeting highlights the changing workforce needs in Charles County. At the meeting, Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation Secretary Kelly M. Schultz will be giving the keynote address, and the Economic Development Department will release their 2018 Charles County Workforce Study. There will be two panel discussions: one on workforce development programs within the county and another on employer-led initiatives.

“Our Fall Meeting is a time to build off the momentum of previous meetings and dive into the challenges and opportunities of workforce development,” said Economic Development Director Darréll Brown. “Charles County is always growing and changing. With this growth we’ve been experiencing, we are excited to release our 2018 Charles County Workforce Study which provides new and greater detail on our existing workforce.”
