NORTH BEACH, Md. — A Chesapeake Beach man is facing multiple felony charges after investigators say he used a counterfeit check to fraudulently obtain money in Calvert County earlier this month.
Jaedon Malachi Andre, 20, of Chesapeake Beach, was charged in connection with an incident reported on March 13, 2026, in the 9200 block of Chesapeake Avenue in North Beach, according to court documents.
According to charging documents, the case stemmed from a complaint by a business owner who reported suspicious financial activity involving checks issued through Truist Bank. Investigators determined that Andre allegedly deposited a legitimate paycheck totaling $129.36, then later used a manipulated version of that same check to withdraw $929.36.
Authorities say the second check maintained the same serial number and original details but had been altered by changing the numerical amount while leaving the written amount unchanged. The transaction was identified as fraudulent after the discrepancy was discovered during a review of the account.
The investigation also revealed that Andre had previously been terminated from his employment at the business and had continued contacting the owner repeatedly following his dismissal, prompting concerns and further scrutiny of the financial transactions tied to him.
Andre is charged with:
- Forgery of private documents
- Possession of a forged private document
- Issuing a false document
- Issuing a counterfeit order
- Obtaining money by forgery
- Forgery of an order for money or goods
A summons was issued on March 25, 2026, and the case was formally filed in Calvert County District Court.
A preliminary inquiry hearing is scheduled for May 11, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in Calvert District Court.
