Leonardtown, MD – The National Weather Service Baltimore MD/Washington DC has issued a Coastal Hazard Message for St. Marys County for Tuesday, November 19, 2019.
COASTAL FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EST THIS EVENING…
* LOCATIONS: Shoreline in St. Marys County.
* TIDAL DEPARTURE: Two to two and a half feet above normal.
* TIMING: Around the time of high tide. The next high tide at Point Lookout is at 6:40 PM, at Piney Point is at 7:23 PM, and at Coltons Point is at 7:59 PM.
* IMPACTS: Up to one foot of inundation above ground level is possible. At 3.5 feet, water covers roads on Saint George Island, is in yards, and is approaching structures. To the east, inundation is occurring at multiple marinas off St. Mary`s River, Smith Creek, and Jutland Creek.
A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
Residents are advised to be aware and to take precautions as needed.
