Robotics is all the rage and CSM is offering camps for beginners and novices of all ages. For kids, โRed Hot Robotsโ presented by Mad Science of Southern Maryland, June 20-24 and June 27-July 1 on the Prince Frederick Campus, introduces students to the uses of robots in many fields. Hands-on activities allow students to experiment with sound-sensing robots, line-tracking robots, amphibious robots and even robots that can play soccer. Students will learn how robots use sensors to explore the world around them as they build their own robot to take home with them.
For teens, โRobot Design,โ taught by CSM professors at all three campuses June 20-24, and Part II June 27-July 1, explores the principles of designing computer-controlled robots. Students will build robots using the LEGO Mindstorm Robot Kit and computer software. This is the same kit used in local, state and national robotics competitions. Students will also explore training and employment opportunities in the professional field of robotics. Part II builds on computer software knowledge and explores competition strategies for teams.
Among the Kidsโ and Teen Camp robotics instructors is CSM Technology Professor Joe Burgin who will take a break from college-level web and program design courses to teach students ages 11-17 computer programming and robot design s
