Sunderland, MD – On April 13, Deputy Sampson conducted a traffic stop in the area of Route 2 and Clyde Jones Road located in Sunderland.

Sampson was almost complete with the traffic stop when he asked the driver and passenger to step out while a K9 scan was conducted. The passenger, Bryan DeAndre Rawlings, 23 of St. Leonard, became very combative and told the driver not to comply. Rawlings was subsequently removed from the vehicle and placed in handcuffs. A K9 scan of the vehicle was then conducted which resulted in a positive alert. A search of the vehicle revealed two small bags with suspected cocaine residue, a clear wrapper from a cigarette carton that had been heat sealed then reopened, and two cut straws.

Rawlings was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with controlled dangerous substance (CDS) possession- not marijuana, CDS possession of paraphernalia, obstructing and hindering, and resist/interfere with arrest. Rawlings posted bond and awaits a June 3 District Court hearing on the charges.
