Leonardtown, MD – The St. Mary’s County Department of Aging & Human Services have joined the Early Childhood Advisory Council and other local organizations, in celebrating the week of April 16 – 20 the Week of the Young Child. The celebration, in conjunction with the National Association for the Education of Young Children, has been marked by a proclamation from the Commissioners of St. Mary’s County.

The organizations have teamed to work toward improving early learning opportunities which are crucial to the growth and development of young children. They have also pledged to building better futures for everyone.

“All young children and their families across the country and in St. Mary’s County deserve access to high-quality early education and care,” said Commissioner Todd Morgan (4th District). “We recognize and support the people, parents, programs and policies that are committed to high-quality early childhood education as the right choice for kids.”

In proclaiming the week of the Young Child, the commissioners encourage all county citizens to work to make a good investment in early childhood.
