Marbury, MD — “Bring Southern Maryland to life as visual art.” That’s the challenge issued byย Mattawoman Creek Art Center for an upcoming all-media juried art exhibition to be held at the center.

The exhibit will runย Friday, September 20 โ€“ Sunday, October 27, 2019 at the Art Center,ย located in Smallwood State Park in Charles County.

For purposes of the exhibition, Southern Maryland is defined as Maryland west of the Chesapeake Bay, south of Rt. 50 (D.C. to Annapolis), and outside I-95/I-495 Beltway.

To qualify, each entry must be an original work relating to the Southern Maryland theme and must have been created after September 30, 2018. Artwork shown in the MCAC gallery or gift shop within the past 12 months is not eligible.

All artists 18 years or older. Artwork exceeding 6โ€™ in any dimension or weighing more than 40 lbs. or needing installation requires approval. Artwork will be judged on quality and relevance to the Southern Maryland theme.

The winner will receive a $1,000 First Prize. A total of $1,800 in prizes will be awarded.

The entry fee is non-refundable. Fee for 1 to 3 pieces of artwork:

  • $25.00 for current MCAC members.
  • $40.00 for non-members.
