Leonardtown, MD – The Commissioners of St. Mary’s County embrace Volunteer Opportunities, including outreach to those in need and partnership with community organizations to support community service projects. Governor Larry Hogan has likewise done the same, providing state employees with four paid hours to volunteer during the 2018 Day To Serve Initiative.

In that spirit the commissioners have approved a resolution granting county employees four consecutive hours of paid leave to take part in a volunteer activity of their choice. In observance of the 2018 Day To Serve Initiative, employees can use the volunteer hours between September 11, 2018 and October 10, 2019.

“Providing employees with four hours of paid leave to volunteer in their community supports an employee friendly work culture, improves employee morale and promotes employee pride in their workplace,” said Catherine Pratson, Human Resources Director.
