The Somerset Patriots scored three times in the bottom of the 8th inning to break a scoreless tie and win for a second straight night over the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Southern Maryland has now dropped three straight overall.
A pitcherโs duel throughout, Somerset finally broke through in the 8th inning against Southern Maryland. Against reliever Charlie Manning (1-7), Corey Smith and Adam Donachie drew walks. Orlando Santos came in to face Ty Wright with one out and Wright greeted him with a three-run home run for the only runs of the game.
Both starting pitchers were excellent but didnโt factor in the decision. Gary Moran pitched six innings of four hit baseball for the Patriots while Ian Marshall went seven shutout for the Blue Crabs allowing five hits with four strikeouts.
