Anne Arundel County police are continuing to investigate the collision of an unregistered dirt bike and a van that occurred in the southern end of the county Saturday, Feb. 23. ย According to an Anne Arundel County Police Department press release, the crash occurred at approximately 2:34 p.m. on Friendship Road in Friendship. The report stated that a 1992 Ford Econoline Van driven by a North Beach man was traveling westbound. A 2006 Toyota Tian Jin Baja dirt bike, operated by a 12-year-old male, was also westbound.

โThe dirt bike abruptly turned left, into the path of the van without any notice,โ the press release stated. โThe driver of the van attempted to avoid striking the dirt bike but was unable to do so.โ

The dirt bike operator sustained serious, nonlife-threatening injuries. The van driver was not injured.
โThe cause of the crash appears to be driver error by the juvenile,โ the press release stated.ย

The investigation by the departmentโs Traffic Safety Section remains open and no charges have been filed at this time. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash and has information is asked to contact the Traffic Safety Section at 410-222-8575.
