SOLOMONS, Md. — Country star Darius Rucker brought a wave of energy and nostalgia to the Calvert Marine Museum’s Motto Mortgage Preferred and RE/MAX One Waterside Pavilion on Thursday, July 10, performing to a packed waterfront crowd in the third installment of the 2025 Waterside Music Series.

The three-time GRAMMY Award winner treated fans to a mix of his country hits and classics from his Hootie & the Blowfish days, delivering an electrifying set that had the crowd on their feet throughout the night. The Waterside Music Series has become a summer staple in Southern Maryland, known for bringing nationally recognized artists to an intimate venue, and Rucker’s performance continued that tradition in grand fashion.

Rucker, who transitioned from rock to country in 2008, showcased a catalog of chart-topping songs including “Wagon Wheel,” his Diamond-certified anthem that remains one of the best-selling country songs of all time. The crowd sang along to favorites spanning his solo career and his time with Hootie & the Blowfish, whose debut album Cracked Rear View ranks among the top 10 best-selling studio albums in history.

Opening the show was rising star Shane Profitt, whose heartfelt and high-energy set laid the groundwork for the night’s headliner. The 25-year-old Tennessee native performed fan favorites like “Still Picks Up” and his breakout single “How It Oughta Be,” drawing enthusiastic applause from the audience.
