The excitement of playing in Lancaster, PA proved too much for the Blue Crabs.

LANCASTER PA.- Despite Southern Maryland out hitting the Barnstormers 11-10, the Blue Crabs fell short in the runs column and lost in game two 6-3 to Lancaster Wednesday evening, Aug. 10.

For the fifth time in the last six games, a Blue Crabs starting pitcher registered a quality start as RHP Daryl Thompson went six innings, allowing three earned runs and walking two and not factoring in the decision.

Lancaster got on the board first in the bottom of the third when Yusuke Kajimoto drove in a run with a single.  Southern Maryland took the lead in the top of the fifth on a two run single by Zach Wilson.
The Barnstormers tied the game in the bottom of the frame on the sacrifice fly by Trayvon Robinson.

After the Barnstormers took the lead in the bottom of the sixth, Southern Maryland tied the game in the top of the eighth.  With two outs, Eric Garcia walked and that proved to be the end of the line for starting pitcher RHP Terry Doyle.  Righty Pete Andrelczyk was summoned out of the bullpen for Lancaster.  Garcia stole second base and on the very next pitch, Gary Brown slashed a single to score Garcia to tie the ballgame at 3-3.

In the last of the eighth, the Barnstormers took the lead for good.  K.C. Hobson and Josh Bell both singled to put two runners on.  RHP Navery Moore took the ball for southpaw Robert Carson and the very next hitter Sean Halton stepped to the dish and drilled a three run homerun over the wall to give the Barnstormers the 6-3 lead.  It was the second round tripper of the night for Halton.

RHP Cory Burns recorded the save in the ninth to even the series.  The finale of the series will take place tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
