In August of 2012, investigators with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division were contacted about a sexual assault that occurred in Waldorf.
Investigation revealed a 14-year-old female had been communicating – through a social networking site – with an individual claiming to be a 17-year-old male. The two agreed to meet. After engaging in sexual activity, the suspect disclosed he was actually 24-years-old. The victim told her parents who then called police.
On Sept. 17, detectives went to the victim’s neighborhood after being made aware the suspect was planning to meet with the victim again. As the suspect exited his car, detectives placed him under arrest.
Kirk Douglas Yancey, 34, of Capital Heights, was charged with third-degree sex offense and solicitation of a minor. Detectives want to hear from any other minors who have met with Yancey and had sexual contact.
