The Charles County Sheriffโs Office has served an arrest warrant for the man responsible for a series of kitchen appliance thefts in March from homes under construction in Waldorf.
Eugene West Ford, 44, of Prince Georges County, was charged on April 29 with three counts each of first-degree burglary, theft of property valued at more than $500 and destruction of property valued at less than $500. Ford is currently being held at the Prince Georgeโs County Department of Corrections on unrelated charges.
The first theft was reported on March 24 after workers discovered someone had forced entry into a home under construction in the 2400 block of Sedgeland Court sometime over the weekend and had stolen kitchen appliances.
Sometime between 5 that night and 9:15 the next morning, the second theft of kitchen appliances occurred in the 3400 block of Halford Street. The last theft occurred between 7 p.m. March 25 and 9 a.m. March 26 in the 8700 block of Bancroft Drive. The stolen appliances included stainless steel refrigerators, ovens, microwaves and dishwashers.
Early on April 9, the Prince Georgeโs County Police Department arrested the occupants of a vehicle suspected of being involved in similar incidents in Prince Georgeโs County.
Although the suspects in that investigation were not involved in the Charles County thefts, detectives obtained information leading to the identity of Ford as the suspect in Charles County.
Charles and Prince Georgeโs County detectives worked cooperatively and as a result, Charles County detectives obtained the warrant for Fordโs arrest on April 24.
