CHESAPEAKE BEACH, Md. — Is it really summer in Chesapeake Beach if you’re not filling your calendar with outdoor activities?
This year, the town is offering an “Art in the Park” series. Every Thursday, residents can find a variety of arts and crafts offerings in Kellam’s Field at 3825 Gordon Stinnett Ave. from 10 a.m. to noon. The series began on June 26 and will run Thursdays until Aug. 14 at the same time each week.
The event is free to the public. The online announcement showcases the following activities and promises even more crafting possibilities:
- Tie-dye
- Bracelet making
- Kindness rock painting
- Plant a flower
- Sand art
- Sun catcher making
- Nature collage

Chesapeake Beach and its neighbor, North Beach, both host numerous outdoor activities throughout the summer. Chesapeake Beach is also home to the Northeast Community Center, a facility that serves as host to special events, sports practices and classes. Many of those events are arts and crafts related, but summer provides an opportunity to get two sensory experiences in one — using your creativity and imagination to make something new, and being outdoors.
The goal of this event is to bring people together through “the joy of arts and crafts” and is open to people of all ages. Since the event is recurring, residents can go more than once for ample opportunity to meet fellow craft and art lovers and work on fun projects.
Residents can follow the town’s Facebook page or check out the 2025 Parks and Recreation summer activity guide to learn about more activities, arts and other events.
