So what’s so bad about a little chlorine? Chlorine is used to help keep our water safe. It kills micro-organisms like e-coli, coliform and cryptosporidium so we don’t get an upset stomach, diarrhea, flu-like symptoms, headaches, cramps or vomiting. However, high levels of chlorine do pose a confirmed health risk.
Some strong Hydrogen Peroxide, we typically have 3.5% around the house, could accomplish the same results to your cutting board or dishes at home with fewer hazards to your health.
In fact 35% H2O2, considered food grade quality, has been used to help oxygenate the body because Cancer cells don’t survive in an Oxygen rich environment. They prefer acidic environments with low oxygen levels and easy access to simple sugars. You should dilute 35% H2O2 and not just swig out of the bottle. Ask your doctor for guidance if you plan on hitting this bottle.
If a pool is over-chlorinated you can tell. It stinks; your eyes burn, you’ll have difficulty breathing, and even your mouth and nose may become irritated and burn.
The Journal of Public Health reported, “Up to two-thirds of the harmful effects of chlorine are due to inhalation and skin absorption while showering.”
Dedicated swimmers will experience greater exposure time and the chlorine will be absorbed through their skin and into their blood. Your skin is your body’s largest organ and is a sponge for absorbing harmful substances when it is in contact with them.
This is how many of the sunscreens we use to prevent skin cancer that actually use KNOWN carcinogens to block the Sun’s rays, which then work their way into our blood stream so your Cancer risks are actually greater. Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide are the safest sunscreens for us. Shirts are even better.
It’s just sad our country allows such filth on our shelves, in our foods, our lotions and soaps. One would start to think the government likes to keep us sick while these very same companies are required to import healthier versions of the very same products to other countries. Just doesn’t make sense.

According to Mary Pohlmann, assistant professor of clinical medicine at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine excessive chlorine exposure can cause asthma and asthma-like symptoms with repeated exposure.
An industrial chemist, J.P. Bercz, noted in 1992 that chlorine harms essential fatty acids(EFA) in our bodies. Most of us are trying to eat more fish (poisoned with pollution, chemicals and metals) to raise our EFAs in our body.
Chlorine is also known to destroy acidophilus, a friendly bacteria inside our colon.
In the 1970s they discovered a toxin was produced when chlorine mixed with feces or blood in the water, known as, trihalomethane or THMs. When this happens, THMs cause more free radicals to form in your body and these are a known cause of Cancer.
A free radical is a molecule with unpaired electrons and they are everywhere. These “rascals” destroy paintings, make paint fade, deteriorate plastic, etc. So imagine how they age our body and harm us. Anti-oxidants are the best way to keep them in check so take your vitamins.
From www.WaterHealthBenefits.com, check out these scary quotes and facts:
“Cancer risk among people using chlorinated water is as much as 93 percent higher than among those whose water does not contain chlorine,” according to the U.S. Council of Environmental Quality.
According to the BreastCancerFund.org, “One common factor among women with breast cancer is that they all have 50 to 60 percent higher levels of these chlorination by-products (THMs) in their fat tissue than women without breast cancer . . .”
“Long-term drinking of chlorinated water appears to increase a person’s risk of developing bladder cancer as much as 80 percent,” as documented in a study published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. Some 45,000 Americans are diagnosed every year with bladder cancer.
“The drinking of chlorinated water has finally been officially linked to an increased incidence of colon cancer. An epidemiologist at Oak Ridge Associated Universities completed a study of colon cancer victims and non-cancer patients and concluded that the drinking of chlorinated water for 15 years or more was conducive to a high rate of colon cancer,” according to Health Freedom News, January/February 1987.
Personally I am looking at a whole house filter to remove any harmful substances that could be in my drinking and bathing water. Seems to be the easiest solution.
If you are bored Sunday come out and meet some Washington Capitals players at City Tap House in DC to benefit the Foundation 4 Heroes. Should be awesome.
