At 10:03 p.m. July 11, Calvert County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a serious single vehicle crash on Route 4 just south of Mount Harmony Road in Dunkirk.
The driver and passenger of the vehicle received serious injuries from the accident.
The driver, James A. Bergman, 30 of Shady Side, was flown by MSP helicopter to Suburban Hospital in Bethesda.
The passenger, Charles L. Poore, 34 of Annapolis, was flown by MSP to Prince Georges Hospital in Cheverly.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle, a 2007 Land Rover Range Rover Sport, was traveling south bound on Md. Rt. 4. For unknown reasons the vehicle left the roadway and struck two trees.
The crash is being investigated by Cpl. T.S. Phelps of the Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit.
