Driver Extricated After Crashing Into Woods In Port Tobacco

PORT TOBACCO, Md. — A woman was extricated from her vehicle and transported to an area trauma center Thursday morning after crashing off Poorhouse Road and striking a tree.

The single-vehicle collision was reported around 8:20 a.m., May 29, 2025, near the intersection of Poorhouse Road and Graymar Lane. Crews arrived to find the driver trapped inside her vehicle, with the hood blocking her door and visible bleeding from the head. Firefighters quickly extricated the patient and turned her over to EMS for care.

Authorities said the driver, a woman approximately 60 years old, first struck a mailbox before continuing into the woods, where her car collided with a tree.

Due to weather conditions, medical helicopters were grounded, and the patient was transported by ground unit PA8 to UM Capital Region Medical Center for treatment.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
