Shortly after midnight on Monday, police and volunteer rescuers were dispatched to a vehicle crash on Route 5 in St. Mary’s City.
Volunteers arrived to find a single vehicle had crashed and overturned, and the single occupant was injured.
Route 5 was shut down for a short period while firefighters and Rescue Squad personnel tended to the victim.
Maryland State Police helicopter Trooper 7 landed near the scene, and took the man to Prince George’s Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
