Lexington Park, MD— On June 2, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Corcoran was in the parking lot of the Pegg Road Shell gas station in Lexington Park when he heard a vehicle’s skidding tires on Three Notch Road.ย
Corcoran observed a black Chrysler Sebring drive into the parking lot at a very high speed that appeared slightly out of control. The operatorย looked at Corcoran and immediately pulled into a parking space.ย
Corcoran then observed that there were no license tags on the vehicle. Corcoran ordered the driver to turn the car off, and he immediately got out and walked towards Corcoran.
The driver seemed to be very confused and smelled of alcohol. Corcoran ordered him to get back into his vehicle several times. The officer’s request, however, was met with a blank stare.
The operator of the vehicleย was identified as Mark W. Williams, 49, of Lexington Park. As Williams began to speak to officers, officers immediately noticed Williams slurring his words. Accordingย to charging documents, “Williams then asked Corcoran several times to cut him a break.”
Corcoran conducted a search of Williams, finding a pocket knife and also removing a ‘crack pipe’ from Williams’ pockets. There was burnt residue on the pipe that was found on Williams.ย
Williams was placed under arrest and read his Miranda Rights; it was also determined that Williams’ vehicleย has not been registered or insured since 2014.
Williams was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center, where he was charged with reckless driving and possession of drug paraphernalia. At this time, Williams does not have a scheduled court date.ย
